Privacy Policy

What we collect

Account data — name, email address, profile photo and Google account identifier, received from Google when you sign in.

Profile data — the languages you speak and are learning, your interests, and anything you write on your language-exchange card.

Content you send — chat messages, voice recordings, and documents or images you submit for translation.

Usage data — which features you use, point transactions, device model, OS version, app version, IP address and approximate country.

Push token — a Firebase Cloud Messaging token so we can notify you of new messages.

Why we use it

To translate and interpret what you send; to deliver messages to the people you send them to; to run the points system and process purchases; to detect abuse and fraud; to provide learning feedback; and to fix faults.

Automated processing by AI providers

To translate, we send the text or audio you submit to our AI providers — OpenAI and Google — who process it on our behalf under contract. They act as processors: they do not use uneesay traffic to train their models, and they delete it in line with their retention commitments.

Retention

Messages are retained for as long as the conversation exists, and for a maximum of 180 days after you delete it, in backups. Voice recordings used for interpretation are processed in transit and are not stored unless you save the transcript. Translation caches store text without identifying who sent it, and expire automatically.

Delete your account and we erase your personal data within 30 days, except records we must keep by law (for example transaction records, retained for five years under Korean commerce law).

Sharing

We share data with: Google (sign-in, push, payments, Veo and Gemini), OpenAI (translation, speech, image and video generation), and our hosting provider. We do not sell personal data and we do not share it for advertising.

Your rights

You may access, correct, export or delete your data, and object to processing, from Settings → Account or by emailing support@uneesay.com. You may also complain to the Personal Information Protection Commission (privacy.go.kr, 118) in Korea, or to your local supervisory authority.

Children

uneesay is not directed at children under 14. We delete accounts found to belong to children under that age.

International transfers

Your data may be processed outside your country, including in the United States, under standard contractual clauses or an equivalent safeguard.
